Unlike so many books about designers, Curious Boym: Design Works is pure fun, through and through. From its die-cut front cover, to the carrying handle bound at its center, to the closing quote by Dr. Seuss, this book gives you a great sense not only of the designers’ aesthetic but of their personalities as well. Written by Constantin Boym, it reads like a casual, personal tour through this husband and wife design team’s products: from their first collaborations (edible pencils made of cookie dough, yum!) to some of their more (in)famous pieces (the Buildings of Disasters series which are souvenir-sized replicas of the sites of some of the most tragic events in recent history: the World Trade Center, Chernobyl, the Unabomber’s cabin.).
