This guy is so much more than simply a paperweight in the shape of a bird. First of all, he's an owl, eternally wise and watchful. Secondly he's made of nambu cast iron which is a traditional Japanese craft that dates back to the middle of the 17th century. Thirdly, his rough hewn texture and badass black coat is the result of a rust-resistant Japanese lacquer glazed called urushi.
