These Things Are Ours by Gwen Frostic is an inspiring example of the artist’s mystic sense of wonder at the endless cycles of nature. Colorful mushrooms spring from fallen trees, new plants emerge from seeds scattered on the wind. The interconnectedness of everything is a constant theme in all of her books, but in this one in particular it is expressed as profoundly in words as it is in the artist’s woodblock prints. The book itself is a wonder to behold, where vellum pages become morning fog and black pages printed with white ink are exquisite scenes of a snowy landscape at midnight.
Hardbound, 6.25” x 9.25”. First published in 1960.
